Monthly Incident Report: January 2023
The Polish Border Guard recently disclosed information regarding 143 foreign nationals who attempted to cross the Polish-Belarusian border illegally during the dates of January 27-29, 2023. Some individuals were observed attempting to bypass technical border security measures, however, upon encountering Border Guard officers, they retreated into Belarus. The foreign nationals discovered during the operation originated from Afghanistan, Eritrea, Syria, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Egypt, Yemen, and Turkmenistan. The migrants were seeking to illegally enter the territory of Poland, including by crossing the border rivers of Świsłocz and Wołkuszanka.
CERT Poland warns the public about fraudsters impersonating the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński. Cybercriminals are sending emails claiming that there is a requirement to provide information about Ukrainian refugees living in rented accommodation. The team emphasizes that this is another instance of disinformation regarding Ukrainian refugees and the messages should be disregarded.
The implementation of the emergency clearing of Poland from explosive and dangerous objects in November 2022 was carried out by 44 EOD patrols and 2 diving-miner groups of the Navy. 389 reports were received, during which the following were recognized, taken, and destroyed:
Since the beginning of 2022, 6,557 reports have been received and EOD patrols have destroyed 224,339 pieces of explosive and dangerous objects (UXO/ERW).
The second alert level (BRAVO) and the third CRP alert level (CHARLIE-CRP) applies to the entire territory of the Republic of Poland until February 28, 2023, 23:59. The second alert level (BRAVO) is also applies to the Polish energy infrastructure located outside the Republic of Poland until February 28, 2023, 23:59.
