Specialist SERE Training
Global Protection Group delivers Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Extraction training for personnel at risk of isolation, capture or loss of operational support in hostile and high-risk environments.
Our programmes are intended primarily for armed forces and military personnel whose duties involve an increased risk of isolation during operations.
Within a legally and operationally appropriate scope, training may also be delivered to international security and protective services companies operating in environments affected by armed conflict, political instability or terrorist threats.
Programmes may also be prepared for government agencies and specialist services whose personnel face increased risks of isolation, detention or loss of operational support.
Each programme is adapted to the participant profile, mission, operating environment, assessed risk and available equipment.
Scope of Training
The programme prepares participants to survive, evade threats, maintain resilience during isolation and support their recovery and return to friendly control.
Depending on participant profile and operating environment, training may include:
- planning and decision-making during an isolation event;
- effective use of personal equipment and limited resources;
- survival techniques appropriate to the operating environment;
- navigation, movement and the use of communication and signalling equipment;
- reducing the risk of detection and evading hostile threats;
- Conduct After Capture (CAC) and appropriate conduct during capture, detention or captivity;
- maintaining physical and psychological resilience and decision-making capability;
- actions supporting the identification, location and recovery of isolated personnel.
Training combines theoretical preparation, practical field exercises and controlled operational scenarios.
SERE Training Levels
Where the contracting organisation applies an A–C SERE framework, the appropriate level is selected according to the mission profile, operating environment and assessed risk of isolation, capture or exploitation.
SERE Level A
Basic preparation for personnel facing a low risk of isolation, covering essential SERE principles and actions following loss of contact with their unit or organisation.
SERE Level B
Training for personnel facing a moderate risk of isolation, combining theoretical preparation with practical exercises in survival, threat avoidance, movement and operating with limited resources.
SERE Level C
Advanced training for appropriately selected personnel assessed by the contracting organisation as facing a high risk of isolation, capture, detention or exploitation by a hostile actor.
The programme is delivered under controlled conditions and subject to enhanced medical, psychological and organisational safeguards.
Instructor-development and training-methodology courses are delivered separately for appropriately qualified personnel.
Training Tailored to the Mission
The scope, level and methodology are adapted to participants’ duties, mission profile, geographical region, operating environment, risk assessment, organisational procedures and equipment.
Within a legally and operationally appropriate scope, programmes for international security and protective services companies may address loss of communication or support, team separation, disruption of an evacuation route, abduction, detention or prolonged captivity.
Modules involving increased physical or psychological demands are delivered exclusively to appropriately selected and medically cleared participants under controlled conditions and established safety procedures.
